The most important function of the grinding fluid when grinding hard metal is to remove the heat generated in the grinding operation, to lubricate the tools in order to reduce wheel wear, and to remove grits from the grinder.
Honing oils are normally of relatively low viscosity. These liquids are used as coolant in cutting operations of extremly fine surfaces, e.g. piston cylinders and knives where high suface finish is required.
Vivex system for recycling of quenching oil consists of one lamella separator; "Concentrator" in which washing liquid upstream of the annealing oven is separated from oil, and another lamella separator; "Purifier" in which waste oil from the concentrator.
The purified water from the separator feeds to a high pressure pump and to the washing chamber by the rolling plant. The strip is degreased when water of high temperature at high pressure sprays through nozzels on to the surfaces of the strip.
For ages, industries have used water from lakes, rivers, and the sea to remove heat generated in the production. For environmental reasons it is not allowed to contaminate the recipient by the industrial process liquids.
